Samenvatting
We live in a world full of invisible structures. Influence and power operate behind the scenes. This book draws connections that are rarely discussed. For all those who dare to look beyond the horizon. The proxy war in Ukraine serves as a key example. We in the West find ourselves in a transitional phase from a unipolar to a multipolar world. We are living in a time of geopolitical shifts rarely seen in history. Power systems that have dominated for decades, such as the US, are losing ground, whilst new power blocs, such as the BRICS states, are emerging. History teaches us that such transitions rarely proceed peacefully. To understand these dynamics, it is necessary to distance ourselves from idealistic explanatory models and sentimental, emotional narratives that are rarely based on facts. Concepts such as democracy, human rights and the so-called ‘rules-based order’ often play a subordinate role in practice or are used selectively by the West to legitimise its policies.
Over Frank Libertas
Frank Libertas was born and raised in Rotterdam's Zuidwijk neighbourhood. After completing his pre-university education, he studied various aspects of Dutch law and passed his economics and philosophy exams at Erasmus University. He then went on to graduate in Higher Public Management (MPA) from the Netherlands School of Public Administration in The Hague. Frank worked for decades in various senior advisory and (top) management positions in government (including nine years as deputy municipal secretary of the municipality of Rotterdam) and the business community. He is self-taught in ancient and modern world history, including geopolitics, which is his true passion. He is now an independent entrepreneur and focuses on strategic consulting, management and organisational issues, including mergers and change processes. Over the past four years, Frank has built up a robust body of work, including Gorki in the Netherlands, the Essays, Kyv, Sjtsjek en Choryv, Liliyana Gadyka, Remmers in Permanent Employment, Lacedaemonians, Francesco and Bianca de Medici, Thorbecke 2.0, Pearl Necklace, Valerie and On a Silk Thread, and the Mainstream Media Mafia. Most of the books have been translated into ten languages.
