The Idea that a Celtic Language Existed is a Myth

Twenty years ago, after studying historical linguistics, the author discovered that the Old Britons spoke a Germanic language, proto-English, long before the arrival of the Romans. The Celtic Continent also spoke a set of Germanic languages. The implications are numerous. It means that the English language was not imported by the Anglo-Saxons, but that it was there before the arrival of the Romans. It means that the spread of the Germanic languages across Europe happened much earlier than previously thought. It means that a number of assumptions are no longer valid. The Galatians, for instance, spoke a Germanic language. Thanks to this discovery, numerous Roman-era place-names can now be explained, offering more insight. We can now understand the name Boudica. The language of the people using the Celtic culture is no longer a mystery. The etymology of the thousands of Roman-era personal names, tribal names, place-names, etc., can now be analysed and understood. There are dozens of examples in the book. A breakthrough.
